Excel Christian Counselling (Pty) Ltd was established in 2022 by Dr Ernrich F. Basson, inspired by a vision to provide affordable, accessible, and high-quality counselling education to individuals across South Africa. Recognising the barriers many faces in accessing tertiary education—particularly in under-resourced communities—Excel Christian Counselling was founded to bridge the gap by equipping aspiring counsellors with both academic knowledge and practical skills.
Our institution offers an integrated learning experience that combines theoretical foundations with hands-on training, empowering students to become competent and compassionate counsellors, particularly within the Christian counselling framework.
Founded to support local South African churches, Excel Christian Counselling provides SAQA-registered qualifications and part-qualifications designed to meet the specific needs of church-based counsellors. We address a significant gap in the availability of accessible, lower-level and entry-level training programmes that are often out of reach for many faith-based communities.
Our programmes are uniquely positioned to support a wide range of churches and networks—including the AFM Church, Living Word Churches, and many others—by developing qualified counsellors across denominational, cultural, and generational lines. In doing so, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the growth and sustainability of counselling ministries in South Africa.

Our mission is to provide exceptional, values-based counselling education to individuals serving in ministry and community settings throughout South Africa. We believe that instilling sound academic knowledge, along with ethical and moral principles, plays a crucial role in strengthening both individuals and society.
Excel Christian Counselling is committed to producing counsellors who are not only knowledgeable but also skilled in practical application. Through a student-centred approach, we offer a structured curriculum, including three core theoretical modules, complemented by personalised support and focused instruction.
